Tonight on TV: the film dedicated to Leonard Nimoy aka Spock

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: The Adventures of the Enterprise Crew.

In 2013, producer Bryan Burk announced a sequel to Star Trek Into Darkness. This third opus of the reboot launched in 2009 at the cinema is scheduled for 2016. A special year for the saga since it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Committed to Star Wars VII – The Force Awakens, JJ Abrams passes the torch to Justin Lin, known for his work on the Fast and Furious franchise. The latter signs a film as pleasant as its predecessor thanks to a good mix of action and humor (Simon Pegg is the author of the screenplay). Over the course of a spectacular story, Star Trek Without Limits thus reconnects with the modern and progressive spirit of the original series to which it pays homage.

Indeed, the feature film is dedicated to Leonard Nimoy, who died in February 2015, mainly known for having played the character of the Vulcan Mr. Spock for more than 40 years. Star Trek Unlimited makes mention of his disappearance when young Spock, played by Zachary Quinto, receives the news of the death of the first Spock. In addition, the number of the USS Franklin, NX-326 is a nod to Leonard Nimoy’s birth date, March 26 (3-26 in English).
