Tonight on TV: the film that will inevitably make you cry

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: a French family drama with a five-star cast.

StudioCanal

Second feature film directed by Rémi Bezançon, The First Day of the Rest of Your Life is a particularly touching and nostalgic family fresco in which each of us is likely to find ourselves. Through the parent/child relationship, the film reflects the fleeting nature of existence, giving rise to emotion with the small things of everyday life.

Its originality lies in its narrative bias: if the story of the Duvals stretches over 12 years, the story focuses on five decisive days, each one being linked to one of the family members. From the parental couple brilliantly interpreted by Jacques Gamblin and Zabou Breitman, to their three children, played by Pio Marmaï, Marc-André Grondin and Déborah François. Rémi Bezançon thus signs a moving chronicle, supported by the lyricism of a rich soundtrack (David Bowie, Indochine, Lou Reed and Etienne Daho in the end credits).
