Tonight on TV: Virginie Efira and Pierre Niney as a pretty movie couple

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: a romantic comedy adapted from a comic book.

It was while looking for a romantic comedy subject that had not yet been treated in French cinema that director David Moreau and his screenwriter Amro Hamzawi had the idea of tackling the theme of the age difference in a couple. .

They then co-wrote 20 years apart, the story of Alice Lantins, an ambitious 38-year-old woman who is about to become editor-in-chief of Rebelle magazine. To get this job, she changes her image of a stuck woman by feigning an idyll with the young and charming Balthazar, barely 20 years old.

If the film does not leave humor in the background, in particular thanks to an excellent gallery of supporting roles, it inevitably takes up the codes of romance – from Love at first sight in Notting Hill to Magnolia, via Les Femmes de ses rêves -, by offering an accomplice and complementary duo, as funny as it is touching.

The sexy attitude and comic talent of Virginie Efira – who here confirms her interest in romantic comedy after La Chance de ma vie and L’Amour c’est mieux à deux – contrasts harmoniously with the feverishness of Pierre Niney, rising star of the time, who was awarded the Swann d’Or for Best Actor at the Cabourg Film Festival for his performance.

Upon its release in 2013, 20 years apart attracted 1.4 million French people.
