“Too often absent”, he confides in his paternity

“I always write trying to get as close to myself as possible.” August 24 will be released in theaters on second film directed by Franck Dubosc. After Everybody stand up with Alexandra Lamy in 2018, he signed rumba life, telling the story of a father who seeks to reconnect with the daughter he abandoned twenty years earlier when she was just a baby. To get closer to her, he enrolls in one of her rumba classes. If he admits that he was inspired by his father for the look of his character and the dance which he shared the practice with his mother, the actor also made this film thinking of his own relationship with his children.

father of two boys, Raphaël, 10, and Milhan, 11Franck Dubosc found a way, through his film, to express to his children what he felt, he confided to the Sunday newspaper. “They had attended a preview where I explained that I had made this film out of guilt towards my children, that of not taking care of them because of my job, my trips, of being too often absent”, says the director. Despite his apprehensions, the 58-year-old father was reassured by his sons. “They told me : ‘It’s good, you’re here, dad’”, he reports.

During this same preview, the comedian also experienced some fears regarding the reception of the film by his sons. “That night they had come with all their friends, so I was afraid they would be bored. But no, they even laughed, a lot, assures the father of the family. It surprised me, but obviously they got their money’s worth out of it.” Without a doubt, Raphaël and Milhan are sensitive to their father’s humor and writing. Her two boys are the offspring of his union with Danièle Dubosca Lebanese woman he met in 2006 and married in 2009.
