Tools stolen – Romanian thieves duo busted during inspection

Customs officials found a stolen impact wrench, various drills, cable reels, tools, and even stolen scaffolding during an inspection in Hohenems. The handcuffs clicked for two Romanians.

When motorway police officers checked the two Romanians at the rest area on the A14 in Hohenems around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, both the duo and the load seemed quite suspicious. In order to take a closer look at the matter, the car and trailer were finally taken to the Hohenems customs office escorted, where the cargo was checked more closely. The highway police and customs officers were astonished: in the thieves’ car and trailer they found stolen items worth several thousand euros that had been stolen from a construction site in Germany. The two men, aged 37 and 38, were arrested on the spot. During the subsequent police interrogation, they stated that they had only taken on transport services. In police custody Further international investigations are being carried out by officers from the Dornbirn motorway police. The Romanians are currently still in police custody. The Feldkirch regional court will decide on possible detention later today.
