(Boursier.com) – TotalEnergies commissioned the largest battery energy storage site in France. Located within the Etablissement des Flandres in Dunkirk, this site meets the need for network stabilization, has a power of 61 MW, and a total storage capacity of 61 MWh. It is made up of 27 2.5 MWh containers designed and assembled by Saft, the battery subsidiary of TotalEnergies, which notably develops advanced batteries for industry.

This project was selected as part of the long-term call for tenders from the operator of the Electricity Transmission Network (RTE) in February 2020, where TotalEnergies was awarded battery storage capacity in France. The full commissioning of the site follows the start-up of a first 25 MW unit in January 2021.
