TotalEnergies implements its withdrawal from Burma

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–TotalEnergies announced on Wednesday that it is implementing its withdrawal from the Yadana field and the gas transport company MGTC in Burma, both as operator and as shareholder.

At the end of January, TotalEnergies announced its decision to withdraw from Burma, considering that the situation in this country no longer allowed it to make a sufficient positive contribution.

“The withdrawal of TotalEnergies from Yadana and MGTC will be effective no later than the end of the six-month contractual notice period, i.e. July 20, 2022, thus giving the Company and PTTEP sufficient time to ensure the orderly and safe transfer of the operator role, while ensuring a just transition for our key stakeholders, our employees and the communities where we operate,” the group said in a statement on Wednesday.
