Toulouse: third runaway in a psychiatric hospital, the patient found

A dangerous psychiatric patient escaped Thursday from the Purpan hospital in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) before being found. This is the third leak in a week in the city.

The 33-year-old man was found by law enforcement a few hours after his escape and taken back to hospital on Thursday afternoon.

“This person was declared irresponsible for attempted murder committed on November 10, 2017 in Blagnac. Hospitalized at the time of her escape, she would have triggered the fire-fighting system to flee, ”said the prosecution.

In 2017, he deliberately ran into three Chinese female students driving his car, La Dépêche reported.

Two dangerous patients on the run last week

The Purpan University Hospital added in a press release that this man had “reintegrated the closed unit” of the establishment.

Last week, two patients from the Gérard Marchant psychiatric hospital in Toulouse had also run away, before being located a few hours later, and interned again.

These two men, suspected of murder, had been considered criminally irresponsible and could not be tried.

The Occitanie Regional Health Agency has announced that it has asked the management of the Marchant hospital to open an administrative investigation and has launched an inspection mission.
