Tour de France The UCI relaxes its rules regarding Covid-19

In full resurgence of positive cases in France, the UCI wanted to clarify the new provisions with regard to the tests with the riders.

Thus it will be obligatory for cyclists from:

– present a negative antigen test for all team members two days before the start of the race

– carry out an antigenic test for all team members (as well as commissaires, UCI technical delegates and personnel in charge of controls) during rest days

At the same time, the UCI recommended strongly from:

– carry out antigenic tests for all the teams during the five days preceding the race

carry out, if possible daily, at least every two to three days, antigenic tests for all team members during the Tour.

The UCI indicates that in the event of a positive case (positive antigen test then positive PCR), the decision on possible isolation will be taken collectively by the team doctor, the Covid-19 doctor for the event as well as by the UCI Medical Director.
