While discussions for a ceasefire continue in Cairo, several strikes by the IDF, the Israeli army, were reported Sunday evening on Rafah and Khan Younes, in the Gaza Strip. Israel continues to pursue its two objectives: the elimination of Hamas and the release of Israeli hostages.
Despite weeks of discussions, negotiations for a truce between Hamas and Israel are still unclear. This Sunday, the terrorist organization nevertheless assured that the negotiators were close to an agreement. But according to information from Europe 1, this is not quite Israel’s state of mind. Several strikes by the IDF, the Israeli army, were reported on Sunday evening on Rafah and Khan Younes, in the Gaza Strip.
An inflexible position
The war continues, assures one of the spokespersons for the Israeli army, Olivier Rafowicz. “As in the previous case, there was a humanitarian truce during which, on the eighth day – at the time in November – Hamas broke the truce since it did not provide the eighth list and fired towards Israel “Since then, there has been fighting. The IDF continues to act against Hamas and as we speak, there is no different news,” he explains.
The spokesperson is clear: Israel maintains its objectives, which the country considers a priority. “In these discussions currently taking place in Cairo, Hamas has demands that are unacceptable. As we speak, Israel has two objectives: the dismantling and elimination of Hamas as a terrorist organization. The second thing is “is the release of the hostages and their return home”, concludes Olivier Rafowicz. However, negotiations continue. The White House, for example, renewed its call for a six-week pause.
