The world’s largest automaker announced this on Wednesday. Analysts had expected an average of 752 billion yen. In the same period last year, the Japanese auto company had only achieved a result of 13.9 billion yen due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
Toyota has so far been largely spared the chip crisis that has forced most automobile manufacturers to temporarily halt their production lines in recent months. Toyota reiterated its forecast of a 14 percent increase in operating profit to 2.5 trillion yen (20.7 billion Swiss francs).
