Toyota, Nissan suspend production in western Japan as typhoon approaches

Sep 5 (Reuters) – Japanese automakers Toyota Motor and Nissan said on Monday they were suspending some production operations at their factories in western Japan due to an approaching typhoon.

Toyota will suspend night shift production Monday from 9 p.m. (1200 GMT) and cancel Tuesday morning production at three plants in Fukuoka Prefecture.

It should resume overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, the company said on its website.

Subsidiaries Nissan Motor and Nissan Shatai Co in Fukuoka prefecture are also expected to suspend production for night shifts on Monday and day shifts on Tuesday, a Nissan Motor spokesman told Reuters.

Businesses have also decided to temporarily close in South Korea amid the threat of Typhoon Hinnamnor. (Satoshi Sugiyama report; French version Dagmarah Mackos, edited by Sophie Louet)
