Toyota: Revocation of certificates at Daihatsu in Japan

(CercleFinance.com) – Toyota announces that the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has revoked the certifications of three vehicles produced by Daihatsu, namely the Toyota Town Ace Truck, the Daihatsu Gran Max and the Mazda Bongo.

Withdrawal of certification is linked to non-compliance with the prerequisites for certification testing.

Indeed, during testing, Toyota explains, fully developed vehicles and parts intended for mass production must be used. However, during the tests in question, the airbags of the affected vehicles were tested without the use of mass-produced parts.

The manufacturer specifies that the revocation only affects new vehicles that have been shipped and sold and adds that all affected models meet safety performance standards.

“Therefore, customers who already drive such vehicles can continue to use them without any problems, and there will be no direct impact on vehicle inspections,” Toyota concludes.
