This Saturday, January 29, C8 relaunched TPMP People. For the premiere of Matthieu Delormeau, the audiences did not live up to expectations…
R8 had attempted a bet. After almost two years of absence on its antenna, TPMP People has been relaunched. “He’s going to come back on the air as a host. He’s going to host a show from very soon, announced Cyril Hanouna in Touche pas à mon poste a few weeks ago. It’s actually a hugely successful show. I spoke with the channel this weekend. We said to ourselves: Why not relaunch this program which made the best hours of C8? TPMP People will be back!” C8 entrusted the animation of this program to Matthieu Delormeau, who had presented it from the start of the 2018 school year to the spring of 2020. The only change? First aired on Friday early evening, TPMP People was moved to Saturday in prime-time access.
And it was this Saturday, January 29, that the people show made a comeback with new columnists: Guillaume Frisquet, Ludivine Retory, Jean-Michel Maire, April Benayoum, Laurent Fontaine, Hugo Manos, Fiona Deshayes and Florian Anselme. For this premiere, the team was fully… but the viewers weren’t really there. Indeed, the audiences did not live up to the expectations of the channel and of Cyril Hanouna. The first part of the show was watched by 300,000 viewers, the second fascinated 500,000, or 2.6% of PDA, according to Médiamétrie. TPMP People has therefore been overtaken by most other channels and in particular the news of TF1 and France 2, followed by Scène deménage on M6 and Open kitchen on France 3.
Cyril Hanouna: “Either no one is watching, or everyone is watching”
A disappointment for Cyril Hanouna, who spoke on the Touche set not at my post about the audiences he wanted. “I already imagined it was a fiasco. Whether it was a success? No, joked the host, this Friday, January 28. Me, I am very confident. Why ? Because whatever happens, Sunday morning I’m going to laugh. If it’s excellent, I’ll be happy because I’m the producer of the show and I’ll be happy for Matthieu.” In Touche pas à mon poste, Cyril Hanouna explained that he did not want to “middle score” : “Either it’s low so that we can have fun, or I want a huge success so that we can celebrate it. (…) Either no one is watching, or everyone is watching”. If he did not react to the hearings, Cyril Hanouna congratulated his columnist: “Frankly big kif!!! The very strong band and I enjoy it!”
