TPMP: this not-so-glowing anecdote from Jean-Michel Maire on Alain Delon

Monday, July 4, the columnists of TPMP were invited to share their most lunar anecdotes with celebrities. The opportunity for Jean-Michel Maire to tell his rather embarrassing meeting with Alain Delon.

It’s not every day that you come across Alain Delon at the bend of a street. Jean-Michel Maire had this chance several years ago, but the meeting quickly took a funny turn. This Monday on the Touche set not at my post, the columnist shared the bleak memory of his interaction with the sacred monster of cinema. One summer, in the French capital, Jean-Michel Maire notices Alain Delon’s car which parks near the Invalides. “He gets out of the car with his wife, he goes to the restaurant which is right next door””, he recalls. But now, when the driver in turn leaves the vehicle – also full of luggage – Jean-Michel Maire notes that the latter forgets to close a door. “It was enough for me to go see him to say to him: ‘I believe that you have left an open door’. All luggage was available. He was going to have everything stolen”, explains the journalist. Finally, rather than addressing the driver, he chooses to speak directly to Alain Delon who, unsurprisingly, sees red. “The inevitable happened. He fucked a huge race at the bodyguard by yelling at him and taking me as a witness. ‘You realize, there are no more small staff. All he has to do is drive and close the doors!’“, recalls Jean-Michel Maire before adding: “I was super embarrassed. The bodyguard lowered his head.

Jean-Michel Maire: “(Alain Delon) didn’t give a damn about me”

A compromising situation that could have been avoided if the columnist had spoken to the driver about it aside. So why did you choose to relate the story to Alain Delon? “I was hoping I don’t know what by Alain Delon, a reward that I did not get. He didn’t give a damn about me“, confessed Jean-Michel Maire, who says he has “shame“of this story which”revealed a dark side of (him)“.
