The terrible accident occurred on Autobahn 94 in Bavaria at around 3:15 a.m. on Friday. Seven people died – including a six-year-old child – and several passengers were injured. Just a short time later, investigators stormed an apartment in Vienna. Why? The suspected smuggler who drove the accident vehicle is said to have his residence there. The vehicle was also registered in the Austrian capital. According to officials, the man is said to be a 24-year-old Palestinian. The number of unauthorized entries is increasing. “The Bavarian police are conducting the investigation into the accident at full speed and are also supporting the federal police in the investigation into the underlying smuggling and those behind it,” says Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann told “Bild”. The Ampfing/Waldkraiburg exit, where the terrible accident occurred, is around 50 kilometers from the border with Austria. According to information from the Federal Police and Bavarian Border Police, the number of registered unauthorized entries has been increasing for months. Driver previously evaded control The officers had also previously noticed the trafficker car in question during a check. The driver then accelerated his vehicle and fled. According to the police, the overcrowding of the car may also have contributed to the high number of deaths and injuries. Many of the occupants could therefore not have been wearing seatbelts at all.
