Trailer: Romain Duris and zombies by the director of OSS 117

Expected on June 15 in our theaters, “Z (like Z)”, remake of “Do not cut!” signed Michel Hazanavicius, is revealed through two teasers centered on Bérénice Béjo and Romain Duris Necessarily bloody images.

Zombies, movies and gore! Such is the program of Z (like Z), a new film by Michel Hazanavicius whose synopsis may seem familiar to horror fans. Because for his eighth feature film, the director of The Artist and the first OSS 117 offers himself the remake of Do not cut!, Japanese nugget passed by our theaters in 2019.

As in the original, the shooting of a zombie film takes an unexpected (and bloody) turn when real undead invite themselves in front of the camera of the director played by Romain Duris. Whose character bears the same name as his Japanese counterpart, Higurashi, if we are to believe these two teasers which reveal the release date, June 15.

The same goes for the make-up artist played by Bérénice Bejo, at the heart of the second video. And maybe not the last. Because if Michel Hazanavicius chooses to highlight each of the members of his huge cast, expect to see teasers with Finnegan Oldfield, Agnès Hurstel (revelation of Jeune & Golri), Grégory Gadebois, Luana Bajrami or even Jean-Pascal Zadi .

Expected at Sundance in January, Z (like Z) finally skipped the festival when the 2022 edition went virtual. It would then not be surprising to find him in Cannes (opening? Midnight screening?) in a few weeks, when the selection will be announced this Thursday, April 14. The spectators present on the spot will thus have the opportunity to discover if the result is as faithful to its model as what the teasers suggest.

Or if Michel Hazanavicius, a very cinephile director who often invites the 7th Art into his stories, has managed to appropriate the codes of horror and zombie films, to transcend them and emancipate himself from Do not cut!
