Trailer The Swarm: Cécile de France must save the world in the disaster series of France 2

France Télévisions has just unveiled a first trailer for “The Swarm”, its new science fiction series with international production with Cécile de France as heroine.

What if the next threat came from the ocean? It is to this thorny question that The Swarm will set out to answer, an eight-part series based on the international bestseller Abyss by Frank Schätzing published in 2004, which is revealed in an ambitious first trailer.

Written by Steven Lally, Marissa Lestrade, Chris Lunt and Michael A. Walker, this big-budget science fiction thriller, which will be broadcast in France on France 2 by 2023, chronicles the fight of humanity against a unknown intelligence that lives in the depths of the sea.

When the reckless treatment of the oceans threatens this entity’s natural habitat, it retaliates. The fate of the world’s population rests in the hands of a small group of scientists…

After Around the World in 80 Days, Mirage and Leonardo, The Swarm is the new co-production from the European Alliance, which was born out of the collaboration between France Télévisions, ZDF (Germany) and Rai (Italy). And who says international production, says cosmopolitan casting.

It is the Frenchie Cécile de France who will be one of the heroines alongside the German-speaking Leonie Benesch, who we previously saw in Le Tour du monde en 80 jours and The Crown, the Swedish Alexander Karim (La wheel of time) and Canadian actor Joshua Odjick (Unsettled).

Barbara Sukowa (Hannah Arendt), Krista Kosonen (Blade Runner 2049), Rosabell Laurenti Sellers (Game of Thrones), Takuya Kimura (2046), Eidin Jalali (Para – We Are King), Takehiro Hira (Giri/Haji), Dutch Johnson (Veep, Navy CIS: LA) and Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Star Wars: Rogue One) round out the cast.
