On the occasion of Cybermonth, Google France is launching a cybersecurity certificate aimed at quickly preparing the professionals of tomorrow. The initiative aims to address the talent gap in the field, particularly among women.

Google wants to make cybersecurity professions more accessible to the general public. This is why the Mountain View firm is launching the Google Career Certificate Cybersecurity this Wednesday, October 4. The company will offer 3,000 certificates to people generally under-represented in the sector, all in partnership with Pôle emploi, Woman4Cyber, Diversidays and INCO. The training, delivered by Google experts, will take place online, via the Coursera platform.

Google leads the way: cybersecurity for all in less than 6 months

Computer attacks target SMEs, local authorities and healthcare establishments, creating a need for cybersecurity professionals. Except that only 25% of available positions were filled in 2021, with a meager female presence, of only 11% according to data from ANSSI and Wavestone.

A player committed to digital training, Google France wishes to fill this gap by offering its Cybersecurity certificate. This training, lasting less than 6 months and carried out entirely online, will allow participants to prepare for jobs in cybersecurity, regardless of their experience or prior diploma.

3,000 certificates will be distributed, largely, Google hopes, to women. Once certified, individuals will be able to conduct security audits and protect data, devices, people and networks from unauthorized access and cyberattacks. They will also have acquired skills in Python, SQL and Linux.

An initiative to strengthen France’s digital security

To facilitate the market integration of future trained talents, Google has woven a web of around fifty partner companies, including Renault Group, Orange, L’Oréal France and Darty. Each of them undertakes to recognize Google training and to study certified profiles.

The Google Career Certificates now constitute a set of four training courses in project management, IT support, user experience design and data analysis. Since November 2022, when the program was launched, we can note a significant impact, with Google giving us the figure of 2,500 people already trained.
