Trellix unites McAfee Enterprise and FireEye

During 2021, Symphony Technology Group (STG) acquired McAfee Enterprise for $4 billion in March, and then FireEye in June for $1.2 billion.

The merger of these two cybersecurity companies was finalized in October. The new company therefore deserved a new name. It is now done: it will be called Trellix.

Develop “living security”

Symphony Technology Group says Trellix will focus on detecting and responding to threats using machine learning and automation. Citing the humble lattice as inspiration, Trellix will develop what is called “living security – security technology that learns and adapts to protect the operational against the most advanced threat actors”.

McAfee Enterprise will not be fully integrated with Trellix, as its suite of security services including its Cloud Access Security Broker, Secure Web Portal and Zero Trust Network Access will be separated later this quarter.

Trellix is said to have a combined base of 40,000 customers, around 5,000 employees and nearly $2 billion in revenue.
