Trench coat: this is how French women style the classic coat

We love the style of the French and that's why we are only too happy to take a look at their styling bag of tricks.

Café au lait, croissants, Chanel – there is a lot that we the French love for. But if there is one thing that we admire her in particular, it is her savoire faire when it comes to fashion. No nation manages to style the simplest items of clothing in this unexcited way in such a way that it becomes a real wow look in no time at all. So it's no wonder that we regularly take a look at our European neighbors.

And it was worth it again this time, because soon the French women teach us an important lesson in terms of transitional styling. While we are receiving the approaching autumn with a bit of a surprise, the French girls are already perfectly prepared for it. The magic word is: trench coat!

According to 'instyle.de', French women swear by the classic transition coats in 2020 – but not without turning it into an absolute it-piece with the help of a simple but ingenious trick.

But let's start with the basics: Instead of relying on tailored trench, our neighbors are turning to overcut boyfriend-style models this fall, which are loosely thrown on. However, the coat only becomes a cool eye-catcher after style icons such as Jeanne Damas or Clémence Poésy have put their hands on their sleeves. For the coveted nonchalance à la francaise, these are loosely rolled up and the slightly conservative style of the trench coat is broken through. Another highlight: Most models have a pretty contrasting lining that really comes into its own.

The rolled up sleeves are half the battle when it comes to fall styling. For a perfect look we don't even have to close the buttons and instead hold the coat together with the belt and a casual knot – et voilà!
