This short haircut is to be adored – literally! The heartthrob bob was already coined by members of all boy bands of the 90s, now it’s becoming a trend again.
“I want it that waaaay….” resounds in our heads in Backstreet Boys fashion as soon as we discover this trendy bob. And rightly so! Because not only “Backstreet Boy” Nick Carter can wear the “Heartthrob Bob” (German heartthrob bob) quite well, but so can we. The popular layered cut of all 90s teenage heroes, who conquered the hearts of their fans with the androgynous look, is back and can now also be discovered on all women’s heads.
This is what makes the trendy bob so special
Don’t remember the exact look or just never papered your room with posters of Johnny, Nick and Keanu? Then here’s a little reminder: The heartthrob bob is an ultra-short version of the bob that features a clear layer at the level of the ears. The upper strands remain about this length, the back section is loosely layered and slightly shaved off at the nape of the neck. Practical, timeless, genderless and therefore exactly the right hairstyle for a new edition in 2022.
Who can wear the Heartthrob Bob?
Unfortunately, the trend hairstyle also has a small drawback: the cut is not suitable for everyone. Because in order for the mane to look full despite layers and shaving, the wearer has to have a lot of hair and volume. Is this your hair type? Jackpot! You can freely grab the scissors and implement the bob true to the original. If you belong more to the faction “spaghetti hair”, the look falls flat. If you still have your heart set on the hairy interpretation of N*SYNC, you can change the look a bit and have your hairdresser give you softer layers. So the top coat is secretly smuggled in a little fullness.

Then as now, the same applies to styling: It has to be casual and messy! It is best to put some styling mousse in your hair – wax will quickly make it sticky – and knead it in lightly. If the head of hair is still wet, you can blow dry it without a brush and comb it into shape with your fingers. This way it will be cool but not disheveled. All we can say is: pure nostalgia. And?
