Trolls 3: who are the French voices of this DreamWorks animated film?

“Trolls 3” was released this Wednesday in theaters. Who are the French voices in this animated film from DreamWorks studios?

The third musical and colorful adventure of Trolls was released in theaters this Wednesday. After two films to talk about, Poppy and Branche are officially a couple (#broppy)! When they no longer have any secrets from each other, Poppy makes an incredible discovery about Branch’s past.

At the time, with his four brothers, Floyd, John Dory, Spruce and Clay, they formed the hottest boy band of the moment, BroZone. When he was just a child, the group separated, as did the family, and since then Branche has never seen his brothers again.

But when Floyd, the eldest of the siblings, is kidnapped by the worst villains of Pop stars, Velvet and Veneer, Branch and Poppy will embark on a poignant and heartbreaking adventure in order to reunite the enemy brothers and save Floyd from a fate even more dire than that of living in the oblivion of Pop Culture.

And to give voice to these little shaggy creatures, DreamWorks called on renowned singers in both original and French versions.

Thus, Matt Pokora overtakes the gray troll Branche for the third time in a row. A role played by Justin Timberlake in the original version. In Trolls 3the hero must face his past and we discover, like Poppy, that Branch was part of a boy band like Justin Timberlake (‘N Sync) and Matt Pokora (Linkup).

Matt Pokora is Branch

Director Walt Dohrn remembers Timberlake’s reaction to reading the script: “We wanted to make sure Justin was completely comfortable with the idea of Branch being in a Boy Band. He immediately loved this idea! We found a balance between parody and homage!*“The animated character is therefore closer than ever to his American and French voice actors.

Before lending his voice to the DreamWorks character, Matt Pokora had already dubbed Mosh, the hero of the animated film The Ugly Duckling and Me and Spix Roberto’s Macaw in Rio 2.

American actress and singer Anna Kendrick has lent her voice to Poppy, the neon pink troll since the first part. If Louane dubbed the character in the first film released in 2016, it was the singer Vitaa who replaced her for the following films.

Poppy is the first animated character to which Vitaa lends her voice. And if the singer had apprehensions regarding Poppy’s speaking voice, because she had never performed before, it was ultimately the singing part that was more difficult. Indeed, for Les Trolls, the French singers had to reinterpret the hits from the film while sticking as closely as possible to the original songs. There was therefore little room for creativity and improvisation.

Amel Bent and Vitaa

Viva is a newcomer to the Trolls universe. Dubbed in the original version by pop star Camila Cabello, herself a former member of Girls Band Fifth Harmony, Viva is the queen of the Golf Trolls.

She and her tribe have lived for years in an abandoned mini-golf course, an idyllic town that is totally utopian because it is cut off from everything and protected from the dangers of the outside world. Viva is extremely confident, ultra-positive and a well-liked ruler. But she will have to overcome her fears and venture out of her comfort zone.

In the French version, it is the singer Amel Bent who lends her voice. The interpreter of “My philosophy” has already voiced the Emperor Penguin Gloria in Happy Feet 2, the Crystal Fairy in Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Fairies and the Yeti Meechee in Yeti & Company.

In the film Viva and Poppy perform the title “It Takes Two“. Friends Vitaa and Amel Bent meet again after their album Sorore in trio with Camélia Jordana.

Vegedream takes over the role of Petit Diamant, Paolo Domingo that of Guy Diamant while dubbing actor Emmanuel Curtil lends his voice to Smidge and cloud man.
