Troopy reinvents itself: finally self-service 125 cc electric scooters in Paris


The only operator of self-service 125 cc thermal scooters is going green and will close its service for a few weeks to offer fully electrified 50 and 125 cc two-wheelers by this summer.

There are many self-service electric scooter services in Paris and allow you to move around freely while respecting the environment to a minimum. However, despite a wide choice, Troopy is an exception by offering a fleet of Yamaha Tricity, which are 125 cc thermal tricycles.

Admittedly, their more powerful displacement makes it possible to venture out of Paris and onto the ring road, but their internal combustion engine is more restrictive. Indeed, the latter is noisier, more polluting and above all limits parking to two-wheeler spaces, unlike an electric two-wheeler, which can park for free in a “normal” space.

Earth day synonymous with renewal

On Earth Day, Troopy reinvents itself and announces the gradual withdrawal of its thermal two-wheelers, until their complete disappearance on June 6, 2022. On this date, the service as it exists today hui will cease to operate, before reopening this summer with new Japanese electric vehicles, namely Yamaha Neo, 50 cc equivalents, and the long-awaited Yamaha E01, 125 cc equivalents offering a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

A lasting commitment

In addition to becoming an electric operator, Troopy wants to become a pioneer in sustainable mobility by displaying three strong commitments. The first two relate to the recycling and reconditioning of vehicles, but also of accessories, such as helmets and skirts, thus reducing the ecological footprint of the company. Finally, Troopy offers to take back old thermal two-wheelers at 50% of their Argus value and offer the rest as Troopy credit, encouraging users to use its new electric fleet.

A revamp of identity

Troopy is also taking the opportunity to renew its identity, since the company now sports a new, cleaner logo with softer tones. The scooters’ livery changes to white, replacing black.

Beyond wanting to be greener, the operator especially hopes to increase its market share. Indeed, its current fleet being exclusively composed of 125 cc, it automatically limits the eligible drivers. By including 50 cc scooters, Troopy will be able to directly compete with other operators on the market, while remaining the only one to offer equivalent 125 cc two-wheelers.

Pre-registrations are open

If you are impatient at the idea of ​​roaming the streets of the capital in an electric 125cc, you can already pre-register on the Troopy website in order to be notified as soon as the new service is launched.

This change is good news, knowing that Troopy remains a very good self-service rental service, not only for the quality of customer service, but also for the comfort of the two-wheelers, the telephone support and the apron which are very much superior to other operators, but above all the wide geographical coverage, extending to the inner suburbs.

The transition to an electric fleet will allow Troopy to overcome the shortcomings of its current vehicles, in particular the greater difficulty of parking in town. Finally, the arrival of these new two-wheelers will also allow Yamaha to make its electric scooters known on a larger scale and potentially win over new buyers.
