Truck stopped – driver on A10: speedometer manipulated and dog tired

Something like this can be a bad thing: a truck driver was stopped by the motorway police at the Kuchl checkpoint yesterday. Not only was he completely tired, but he had also manipulated the speedometer.

The Turk with the Romanian truck seemed uncooperative and tired. He is said to have driven several hundred kilometers at least seven times in the past four weeks, mostly at night, instead of observing the prescribed rest period. The police were able to confirm the suspicion of manipulation with an expert. The Turk finally confessed his misconduct and was reported to the public prosecutor’s office for forging public certification marks. In addition, he had to pay a security deposit of almost 1,000 euros due to several administrative violations (lack of driver qualifications and lack of snow chains). After a nap, the 35-year-old was allowed to continue driving.
