The first season of “Stranger Things” premiered on Netflix on July 15, 2016. While waiting for season 5, look back at the origins of the show with this seven-question quiz.
It was in 2013 that the Duffer brothers began working on the series Stranger Things, recalling their own childhood experience in the 80s. To develop the concept, they were inspired by cult films of that decade such as ET from Steven Spielberg, The Goonies by Richard Donner, or Poltergeist by Tobe Hooper.
After having produced a pilot, the two brothers presented their project to several studios which did not show interest, before Netflix smelled the success to come and finally agreed to embark on the adventure.
Filming began in 2015, the two directors not skimping on the means to recreate the atmosphere of the 80s, paying particular attention to the sets and costumes, through numerous references to the pop culture of that era, or even using an Arri Alexa camera to set a retro tone for the entire series.
For the cast, we find adult side Winona Ryder (Edward Scissorhands, Dracula), David Harbor or Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket, Birdy). For children, the public discovers new faces with the band of four friends, and especially Eleven interpreted by Millie Bobby Brown, who we have notably been able to see again since in two franchises: Godzilla and Enola Holmes.
