Philips is starting 2022 on a high note with the announcement of numerous audio products, including three for its range dedicated to athletes: headphones true-wireless A7507 and two waterproof portable speakers, the S7807 and S4807.

Philips, under the control of TP Vision, is preparing for the arrival of sunny days with its first adventurous Bluetooth speakers, called S4807 and S7807. IP67 certified, these two models share the same waterproof design with a frame covered with a double thickness of rubber. To facilitate their transport, the loudspeakers are respectively accompanied by a small lanyard or a large strap.

Even if their size and their sound claims differ, the S4807 and S7807 offer a very similar user experience on paper: numerous integrated controls, multipoint Bluetooth 5.2 connection, possibility of pairing a second speaker to broadcast the same content or for a stereo configuration, and integration of a microphone for the hands-free kit function.

The S7807 stands out significantly by offering the possibility of recharging a device via USB.

As far as sound performance is concerned, the most compact model is logically the most lightly equipped: a single 45 x 80 mm mid/bass driver is present, accompanied by two passive radiators. For its part, the S7807 houses no less than four speakers (two 20mm tweeters and two 70mm mid/bass speakers) and two passive radiators, and promises a “four times more powerful” than his sidekick.

The launch prices of the S7807 and S4807 have not yet been communicated by the manufacturer. Both products are expected to arrive in March 2022.

For its part, the Sport range from Philips is enriched with headphones true-wireless A7507. Resistant to water splashes (IPX5 certification in support), these in-ear headphones benefit from a stabilizer system supposed to ensure their maintenance in the hollow of the ear. Although few dedicated sports earphones offer it (largely for safety reasons), the A7507 offer an adjustable active noise reduction function, accompanied by a listening mode for ambient sounds. According to Philips, this “Pro” ANC function would be very insensitive to noise caused by the blowing of the wind… It remains to be seen the result in practice.

The built-in microphones for communications promise very good call quality, thanks in particular to a bone conduction system capable of effectively detaching the user’s voice from surrounding noise. On the connectivity side, Philips did not give much detail, except for the support of the LDAC and AAC codecs by the headphones and the presence of a Philips companion application to customize certain features (in particular the level of noise reduction activated). The autonomy of the A7507 is announced at 8 hours per charge, with the possibility of recharging the headphones more than twice with the transport case provided.

Again, Philips has not revealed any launch prices for the A7507, which is expected to be released at the end of March 2022.
