When it comes to Christmas dinner, we always tend to think a little too broadly. Several aperitifs, two or three starters, a main course, cheese, salad, dessert… In short, if you are visiting relatives, remember to bring an airtight box because there are always leftovers. Foie gras, turkey, log: the pleasure lasts several days. If you don’t want to keep these foods in the same form, there are many ways to repurpose them and create other recipes.

What to do with leftover turkey at Christmas?

If you had turkey on the Christmas menu and there is some left, rest assured, you have plenty of options for consuming it. If you want a little freshness and lightness after these very rich menus, you can opt for a salad with lamb’s lettuce, lentils, onions, bulgur and shredded turkey. You also have the option of making pasta with turkey and cream or a pizza with onions and pieces of turkey, covered with grated mozzarella. For children, you can make turkey nuggets or even small puff pastries with cream and turkey.

What to do with leftover foie gras?

Foie gras is an expensive product so you should definitely not waste it. The advantage is that there are many recipes based on foie gras. You can, for example, make a foie gras sauce to accompany a duck breast. Simply mix the diced foie gras with cream and chicken or veal stock. You can also add port or Armagnac. Don’t hesitate to opt for a foie gras tiramisu or a foie gras panna cotta.

What to do with leftover wine?

If you still have wine after your Christmas meal, don’t throw it away. You can drink it during subsequent meals but you also have the possibility of adding them to certain dishes. If it is red wine, there are obviously the traditional recipes for beef bourguignon or coq au vin, but you can also prepare a delicious mulled wine.

What to do with leftover logs?

One of the difficulties with log is that if it has already been frozen, you won’t be able to freeze it again. You will therefore have to reuse it directly or in the days that follow. If you like ice cream, then you can make a small verrine with a piece of log in the bottom and a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream on top, for example. You can also crush, for example, gavottes on a piece of log to give it some crunch.
