When developing its sustainability assessment program, TÜV SÜD relied on the overarching United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and used these goals as the basis for defining criteria and indicators. which allowed its technical inspection experts to assess and quantify durability.

TÜV SÜD has also considered the requirements of the forthcoming EU Battery Directive. TÜV SÜD’s sustainability assessment program is designed to enable manufacturers to establish more sustainable battery production operations, which will encompass not only the ecological aspect, but also the social and economic aspects.

As part of a pilot project for the first phase of sustainability assessment, TÜV SÜD examined the current status of corporate sustainability at several Microvast facilities. The pilot project marked the launch of a new SDG assessment tool, which enables an objective, holistic and transparent recording and review of the underlying data. The results of the first phase of sustainability assessment have been summarized in a status report, which Microvast will use as a reference to promote its sustainability initiatives.
