The body of a professor is found in the bushes in a remote parking lot. Linett (Stefanie Stappenbeck) and Otto (Florian Martens) begin their investigations without witnesses or leads. What was he doing there? What at first looks like robbery and murder soon turns out to be murder in the swinger scene. Linett and Otto meet a wall of silence, because nobody claims to have been in the parking lot that evening.

Matron Theodora (Nina Hoger) is in a stock frenzy, the prices of her investment fund are rising and all financial worries of the order seem to be swept away. For sister Agnes (Emanuela von Frankenberg) things are not going so smoothly: She gets into trouble with upset parents who do not want to see that the school kiosk no longer sells sausage rolls.

The bourgeois life of Randolph Tiefenthaler (Heino Ferch) seems to find its fulfillment with the purchase of the beautiful old Berlin apartment. The architect and his family suspect no harm when Mr. Tiberius (Udo Samel) from the basement apartment puts cake in front of their door on the day they move in. But soon the neighbor in the basement becomes creepy. He observes Tiefenthaler’s wife Rebecca (Anja Kling), first writes letters that are in love, then slanderous, and even reports a complaint. The marriage plunges into a crisis, the mere existence of the neighbor poisons everyday life.

The Mexican Flor (Paz Vega) and her daughter want to start a new life in Los Angeles. They lay the foundation for this in the house of the Clasky family, where Flor starts as a domestic help. While her child immediately falls into the clutches of the over-excited Mrs. Clasky (Téa Leoni), Flor soon realizes that family life is falling short and everyone goes or must go their own way. So it is not only about language barriers, but also about overcoming emotional ones.
