Twitter: Elon Musk recalls the current rules of the social network… before changing everything

Elon Musk is still at the center of the storm since the takeover of Twitter. As a final attempt to calm things down, the billionaire has just published an article summarizing the rules in force on Twitter on the blue bird. Fun, especially when you know that he intends to modify everything in the near future.

As you may know, Elon Musk has become the new big boss of Twitter for about ten days. And as much to say that this takeover is far from having taken place calmly, quite the contrary. Just arrived at the station, Tesla executive fired from several senior social network executiveslike Parag Agrawal, the previous CEO of the blue bird.

At the same time, Elon Musk announced the creation of a moderation council. Skimming also took place in the workforce, since the new CEO fired nearly half of the employees. Some employees have also decided to file a complaint for unfair dismissal… A few days later, Elon Musk, however, made the weathervane, probably realizing that he had perhaps gone a little too quickly. Indeed, many employees put on the floor were recalled this weekend, and in addition, dozens of job offers were posted.

But above all, it is the famous paid certification imposed by the billionaire at 8 dollars per month that has caused the most ink to flow. Indeed, this new verification system is problematic, in the sense that it allows any user willing to pay this amount to pretend to be anyone. Besides, several American comedians have shown the limits of the process by modifying their account to mimic that of Elon Musk. As a result, they were banned immediately.

Elon Musk insists on remembering the rules of Twitter

This Monday, November 7, 2022, probably in a final attempt to calm things down, Elon Musk posted in a tweet leading to the current Twitter Rules. Amusing, especially when you know that he intends to modify them in depth in the weeks to come. “The rules of Twitter will evolve over time, but in the meantime, here they are”, he writes.

It is recalled that the rules of Twitter “aim to ensure that everyone can participate in the public conversation freely and safely”. The Security section is precisely the thickest with the detailed position of Twitter regarding:

  • violence
  • terrorism/extremism
  • sexual exploitation of children
  • inappropriate behavior/harassment
  • hateful behavior
  • perpetrators of violent attacks
  • suicide and self-destructive behavior
  • sensitive media, including exploitative violence and adult content
  • illegal and regulated goods and services

In addition, Twitter also specifies that it is prohibited to publish or post personal and private information of other people without their authorization, as well as intimate photos and videos without consent. For the moment, it is not known what changes will be made to these Terms of Use.
