According to media reports, one of the two planes crashed into a field, the other crashed into a car in a residential area. This was locked. Emergency services are on site.

According to the Italian Air Force, the aircraft were of the Sai Marchetti 208 type. The U-208 aircraft is a light aircraft with a single propeller, which can carry a maximum of four passengers in addition to the pilot and has a top speed of 285 km/h.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her dismay at the accident on Twitter. “We are saddened by the news of the death of two Luftwaffe pilots in a plane crash in Guidonia, near Rome,” she said, expressing her condolences to her families and the Luftwaffe.
