Two men killed by police fire in Paris: two investigations opened



Qhat happened overnight from Sunday to Monday at the Quai des Orfèvres in Paris? The driver of a car and his passenger were killed by gunfire from a police crew from the public order and traffic department (DOPC) of the police headquarters. According to the version of the police, a vehicle was parked on the Quai des Orfèvres in the opposite direction, the front of the car was directed towards the Pont-Neuf.

Still according to the police, the crew of five DOPC officials approached the vehicle, which allegedly started off with a bang and deliberately ran into the police. The driver and his passenger died that night around midnight and a third 42-year-old man, seated in the back, was injured without vital prognosis.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened a first investigation for attempted intentional homicide of a person holding public authority. This investigation concerns the occupants of the vehicle who allegedly refused to comply. The investigations were entrusted to the 1st judicial police district.

A second investigation was opened for intentional violence resulting in death without intention to give it. The investigations were entrusted to the IGPN. The five police officers have also been heard by the police since that night.

“The police officer likely to be the author of the shots was the subject, after his release from the hospital, of a first hearing by the IGPN in the early morning. Technical and scientific investigations have also been requested in order to bring to light the circumstances of the shootings which are likely to have led to the death and injuries of the occupants of the vehicle, ”according to the Paris prosecutor’s office. Late Monday afternoon, this policeman was taken into custody. “This measure, taken in particular because of the seriousness of the consequences of the shootings of the person concerned and in order to verify with precision the conditions of use of his weapon by this one, is still in progress”, specified the parquet floor. The agent is in custody at the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) for “intentional violence resulting in death without intention to give it”.

According to our information, the two young men who died – driver Fadjigui N., 25, and passenger Boubakar C., 31, both from 20and arrondissement of Paris – were known to the police, in particular for violating the legislation on narcotics. The injured 42-year-old passenger is unknown to the police. According to their version, the DOPC officers had decided to check the vehicle because they suspected the presence of drugs on board. The investigation will have to say if it is not a version established a posteriori.
