“Two new friends”, this is what Jules and Jeanne, their new dogs, look like

It was last February that we discovered that two new tenants had joined the Élysée Palace alongside the presidential couple, Jeanne and Jules. Two balls of fur who had joined the couple’s black labrador, of which the chief of staff of the First Lady of France revealed the very first photos this Sunday, April 7, 2024.

The year 2024 is not an easy year for the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron. If this new year started with a reshuffle within the government and the appointment of Gabriel Attal as Prime Minister, on the side of the First Lady of France, it is her charitable activities which have gained momentum. In recent weeks, a new subject has attracted all the attention of the couple: the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

While the president was involved in a controversy surrounding the opening ceremony of the Games, Brigitte Macron, for her part, is increasing the number of official visits as part of this major sporting event, as recently during her visit to the the Saint-Cloud medical-educational institute in Hauts-de-Seine. However, despite this busy schedule, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron find time to enjoy their four-legged companions, Nemo, Jeanne and Jules.

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron: their new dogs at the Élysée

After two successive five-year terms, the Macron family has apparently settled very well at the Élysée. It was just after his first election in 2017 that Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron decided to adopt their very first ball of fur, an adorable black griffon-Labrador cross named Nemo. It was in a SPA refuge in Yvelines that the couple found the man who became a full member of the family and a true mascot of the presidential residence.

The very first companion of the presidential couple, Nemo, has repeatedly acted out in the Presidential Palace, a role that he has now shared for several weeks with two new tenants adopted last February, Jules and Jeanne. If the president had followed the rule of annual letters to name his dog Nemo, since in 2017 it was the letter N which was in the spotlight, for these newcomers, the choice was different. Indeed, Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron are now the happy owners of two Tazi greyhounds, a Kazakh breed, offered by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokaïev, named Jules and Jeanne.
