Two new PS5s are coming. No big difference on the horizon, but good news on the program. They will both be lighter.
Sony will soon market two new models of the PS5. The Japanese firm has announced the arrival of a revision of its console for next month, here is what we know.
A new model for the PS5
While the PS5 increases in price in France and around the world, here comes a new edition. No bundle with a game, neither PlayStation 5 Slim or Pro, but more of a revision of existing models. Expected for September 15, these versions will include only minimal differences mainly due to internal components. However, the new PS5 Standard Edition (CFI-1202A) will be 600 grams lighter than the console at launch (4.5 kg vs. 3.9 kg). In other words, this model of the PlayStation 5 will have the same weight as the Digital version when it launches.
As for the new PS5 Digital (CFI-1202B), its weight will be reduced by 500 grams compared to the model marketed in November 2020 (3.9 kg against 3.4 kg). These new revisions of Sony’s consoles are already available from Australian retailers. According to the local media Press-Start, the country would be the first served as the previous time. Is the price hike related to these new, lighter PS5s? This could clearly have a connection, even if the Japanese giant invokes the current economic situation. In France, they should arrive on the official release date, in mid-September.
