two people presented to a Parisian investigating judge

Two people, domiciled in the Paris region and “likely to be linked to the author of the attack” committed on October 16 in Brussels, were presented on Monday October 23 to a Parisian investigating judge, according to the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT). This judge must now decide on their possible indictment for criminal terrorist association, required by the PNAT, as well as their pre-trial detention.

On Thursday, there were four in total who were arrested. In Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire and the Paris region, the PNAT reported. Only the two people from the Paris region were presented to a judge, while the other two had their custody lifted.

The investigations “continue to clarify the[s] connections “ of the two implicated with Abdesalem Lassoued, a radicalized 45-year-old Tunisian, who killed two Swedes when the latter came to support their national football team. The assailant, who had been the subject of an extradition request from Tunisia for more than a year, was shot dead on October 17 by Belgian police.

Following information “transmitted by the Belgian judicial authorities”the PNAT opened, on October 17, 2023, an investigation into the head of a criminal terrorist association.
