Two Yamahas, one passion: You should have seen these PC mice

TECHNOLOGY

Amplifier, instrument, motorcycle: when we talk about Yamaha, many things can be meant. The Two Yamahas, one Passion project takes this fact into account with two PC mice.

  • The design project “Two Yamahas, one Passion” combines the motorcycle and musical instrument divisions of Yamaha.
  • Two computer mice that couldn’t be more different play with the brand names.
  • While one is reminiscent of classical musical instruments such as the saxophone or trumpet, the other mouse cites the technical components of a motorcycle.

When it comes to PC mice, ergonomics are more important than aesthetics. Sometimes the material, such as wood, is also in the foreground. But we have never seen mice like these from Yamaha or Yamaha Motor Corporation. The designs were created in the Yamaha Design Laboratory and published on Instagram.

PC Mice: Two Yamahas, one Passion

The term steampunk comes to mind when we look at the first Yamaha mouse, but the designers associated something else: the flow of electrons in circuits.

Here they saw parallels to wind instruments, in which the tones are created and varied by controlling the flow of air. The wrist rest and the two mouse buttons appear to be inspired by the saxophone, as does the mouse’s gold color.

The motorcycle mouse is completely different. The dynamic exterior is intended to symbolize speed. The airy frame seems to wrap itself around an engine. The scrolling is modeled on the coupling process. To do this, you can press and hold the left and right mouse buttons and the thumb button at the same time, just as if you were pulling the clutch lever.

Unfortunately, you cannot buy the extraordinary mice, they are currently pure design objects. Yamaha Motors will soon be introducing its first electric scooter.
