According to information from our colleagues, the little child would have taken advantage of a moment of inattention from the parents, when the latter were taking a nap, to escape from the family home and get into his parents’ car. When she woke up from a nap, about an hour after the fact, the mother worried that she would not find her baby in the house. The parents immediately transported the child to the Center Hospitalier de l’Ouest Guyanais, which is near the house where the recent events took place. Unfortunately, it was already too late: the two-year-old boy was declared deceased. This is not the first time that such a tragedy has befallen this town located on the north coast of Guyana. Still according to information from our local colleagues, a similar accident occurred last March in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni.
