Uber: doubles its turnover in the 2nd quarter


(CercleFinance.com) – Uber publishes revenue of $8 billion for the 2nd quarter of 2022, a figure up 111% at constant exchange rates compared to the same period a year earlier ($3.9 billion ).

The activity is driven by a 21% increase in the number of active users in the month, this figure having increased from 101 to 122 million between the 2nd quarter of 2021 and the 2nd quarter of 2022.

Logically, the number of trips made this quarter is also up and reached 1.87 billion, against 1.51 billion twelve months earlier.

In this context, Uber recorded an adjusted EBITDA of $364 million, compared to a loss of $509 million in the 2nd quarter of 2021, a figure which is also significantly higher than Uber’s forecasts which aimed for an adjusted EBITDA of between $240 and $270 million. .

According to Wedbush, these figures are a testament to Uber’s ability to generate profits despite inflationary pressures and driver shortages plaguing some cities.

The company nevertheless recorded a loss of $2.6 billion in the second quarter of 2022, compared to a gain of $1.14 billion a year earlier. The loss is attributable up to $ 1.7 billion to investments by Uber, specifies the company.

For the third quarter, Uber is targeting adjusted EBITDA of between $440 and $470 million.
