Ubisoft sees its shares fall and be at their lowest since 2016

At the end of the 2010s, Ubisoft experienced very good progress, particularly financially, largely thanks to Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs and The Division, not to mention Rainbow Six Siege, which made it possible to welcome many players . But the studio did not know how to take advantage of it to offer innovative things, except for the RPG aspect in Assassin’s Creed, which did not necessarily please, and the repetition of the games, in particular on Far Cry, did not was not positive. So much so that the value of the shares ended up falling.

Indeed, despite constant progress between 2016 and 2018 and a nice post-COVID rebound, in recent months, Ubisoft saw its share value fall from $20 to $4.39, the lowest since 2016 (via Morningstar). But if we take a closer look, the recent announcement about the postponement of Skull & Bones and the dropping of three new games has further lost value, around 65 cents, after a year of no releases. highlights, like Roller Champions. Moreover, Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, is aware that this is not the best period for his company:

We are clearly disappointed with our recent performance. We face contrasting market dynamics as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and game-services, amid deteriorating economic conditions affecting consumer spending.

Nevertheless, Ubisoft could experience a good period, starting this year, with the release of several major titles, starting with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a strong license from Ubisoft, which has already announced its projects, but also Skull & Bones, which remains awaited, without forgetting Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which could ride on the success of the second film. In the longer term, a Star Wars game could also attract attention, as could other still undisclosed projects, including an unannounced triple A.
