Star hairdresser Udo Walz died last November. His widower, Carsten Thamm-Walz, now wants to honor his life's work.

"That is very important to me," says Carsten Thamm-Walz, 50, in an interview with the "Deutsche Presse-Agentur" and declares that he will uphold the legacy of his late husband Udo Walz, † 76, in the future too. Two salons in Berlin and one in Potsdam will reopen on March 1st, when operation is possible again after the Corona break.

"I miss him every day"

The death of his beloved husband is still gnawing at him. "If I'm completely open: Somehow I still haven't digested all of this properly," Thamm-Waz told the dpa. After almost 30 years, you couldn't do that overnight either. "I miss him every day. When I come home, I can still see him sitting in his armchair," said the 50-year-old. Once a week he visits Walz's grave and speaks to him. That helps him not to feel so alone during the Corona period. It is an anonymous grave in the Dahlem forest cemetery, only the initiated know where it is.

Udo Walz's salons are suffering from the corona crisis

The large salon on Kurfürstendamm is closed, Carsten Thamm-Walz declared in December 2020 that the bankruptcy application had many reasons. Among other things, he named difficulties with rent and the corona crisis. Nine of the 35 employees could therefore continue to be employed. The aid from the state because of the corona lockdown has not yet arrived, Thamm-Walz explains. "Nonetheless, we have not lost our courage and are continuing. Our customers are happy that we are opening again."

Udo Walz died of complications from diabetic shock, and the star hairdresser fell into a coma in the hospital. He took his last breath on November 12, 2020.
