On Thursday April 18, UEFA ordered FC Barcelona to pay a fine of 25,000 euros for the “racist behavior of his supporters”, two of whom were arrested in Paris on April 10 for having performed Nazi salutes during the Champions League quarter-final first leg against PSG.
The Catalan club was also banned from selling tickets to its supporters for its next trip to a UEFA competition, a sanction accompanied by a one-year reprieve from the decision.
Two Barça supporters were arrested on April 10 and accused of glorifying war crimes and making public racist insults at the Parc des Princes, where PSG met FC Barcelona in the Champions League.
“Monkey cries” and “Nazi salutes”
The Paris police headquarters reported on “FC Barcelona supporters present at the Parc des Princes seen making monkey cries and Nazi salutes”. One of them, suspected of having made monkey cries, was released without prosecution, the investigations having not “not allowed to characterize the facts”according to French justice.
The other, suspected of having made Nazi salutes, was also released and will be summoned again for a hearing on these facts “likely to be qualified as an apology for crime” on a date which has not been specified, according to the same source.
