Following his win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270, Francis Ngannou has confirmed that his future may lie in boxing.
From octagons to boxing rings? After retaining his UFC heavyweight belt against the French on Saturday in Anaheim, the Cameroonian MMA fighter could take the plunge. By envy (he never hid that it was his dream) but also because of contract problems with the UFC.
“I have boxing in the back of my mind, it’s one of the options to consider, confided Francis Ngannou after his incredible success against Ciryl Gane. My eyes are open, I’m not going to spend my life in the UFC.”
While he has been in complicated negotiations for months with the prestigious MMA organization and its eminent boss Dana White, the “most dangerous man” in the octagons confessed that his “situation was tense”.

“Everything is possible for the future, he revealed to RMC. We have to resolve the situation with the UFC, which has been very tense lately. I have the maximum number of cards in my hand. Either they’ll manage to negotiate or they’ll release me. I fight for freedom and independence, that’s all. I think every fighter should be in a position to speak out without fear of reprisal. While he exchanged on Twitter with Tyson Fury, WBC heavyweight champion, for a possible fight, Francis Ngannou, who also revived the Briton on Sunday, will first have to be completely released by the UFC. Currently, his contract obliges him to remain one year or to carry out three additional fights.
