The war that has been going on in Ukraine for ten days is shaking the world, while the West is implementing measures to economically punish Russia for the invasion it is leading. The Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister had called on Microsoft and Sony to react to the conflicts and to imitate the studios which have stopped all their sales on Russian territory, in order to weigh economically in the balance. Microsoft has just responded to this call with a new press release.
Microsoft pauses everything on Russian territory
In this new speech, we learn that Microsoft as a whole (be it Xbox, Azur services or otherwise) will pause all new sales of its products in Russia :
” We are announcing today that we are suspending all new sales of Microsoft products and services in Russia. Additionally, we are coordinating closely with the governments of the United States, European Union, and United Kingdom, and are shutting down many aspects of our business in Russia in accordance with government sanctions orders.
We believe we are most effective in helping Ukraine when we take concrete action in coordination with the decisions taken by these governments and we will take additional action as the situation continues to evolve. »
Microsoft thus declares to act in favor of cybersecurity in Ukraine, in particular with the aim of protecting civilians. The group also indicates that it helps refugees and organizations in need of technology and financial support, in particular through the Red Cross.
