April 19 (Reuters) – A Russian missile strike on the Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine killed at least eight people, injured more than 25 and damaged strategic infrastructure, Ukrainian officials said on Friday.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky said the attack damaged several floors of a residential building as well as a train station in the regional capital, Dnipro.
“Russia must be held accountable for its acts of terror and every missile, every Shahed (drone) must be shot down,” he added.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said at least eight people died in the attack, two in Dnipro and six in the Sinelnikivsky district, where more than a dozen homes were damaged.
Ukrainian air defenses shot down 11 of 16 missiles and 9 of 10 drones launched into the region, local governor Serhi Lysak said on television.
According to the state-owned Ukrainian Railways, Russia deliberately targeted its infrastructure in the attack and injured employees. The company closed its Dnipro station.
