UNITED NATIONS, April 26 (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday agreed “in principle” to the involvement of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross in the evacuation of civilians trapped in the Azovstal factory, in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, the UN said in a statement.
Discussions will be organized between the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the Russian Defense Minister, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said after a meeting between UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Vladimir Putin.
