Goes “Bet that…?” continue without Thomas Gottschalk? “Nobody can replace him,” says presenter Ulla Kock am Brink.

Moderated November 25th Thomas Gottschalk (73) said “Wetten,dass..?” for the last time. The entertainer explained his decision by saying that he was no longer up to date and that his “generation had passed away”. An assessment that moderator Ulla Kock am Brink (62) shares. “‘Bet that..?’ “It’s really a bit out of time,” says the 62-year-old, who hosted Saturday evening shows such as “The 100,000 Mark Show” for years.

“Nobody can replace Thomas Gottschalk”

“Celebrities used to be more exciting because there was no medium in which celebrities posted about themselves, their lifestyle and their private lives every day,” the presenter continued in an interview with spot on news. “The secret about stars has been revealed – why should the viewer find the stars on the couch exciting? And the motto ‘higher, faster, even more excavators’ no longer corresponds to the spirit of the times.”

Ulla Kock am Brink is also critical of a continuation of the TV classic without Gottschalk. “Thomas Gottschalk is the DNA of this show. The shoes to fill are simply too big. A successor would hardly have a chance. The viewers love the security in the ritual and Thomas is the master of ceremonies – and rightly so. Nobody can replace him, and That alone is remarkable.”

“I don’t know the word pension”

Last year, Ulla Kock am Brink herself celebrated a TV comeback with the program “The 100,000 Mark Show”. Next Saturday (September 23rd, 8:15 p.m.) she can be seen on RTL in “The Big GEO Show – Around the World in 55 Questions”. The presenter traveled to Mexico as part of the show. “A country full of contradictions, wonderful but also very dangerous. The people I met were warm-hearted and cosmopolitan. I was able to get a small impression of the exciting Mexican culture,” enthuses the presenter.

The 62-year-old is far from thinking about quitting. “I cultivate my mindset every day, am agile, quick-thinking and above all: relaxed! I don’t even know the word pension and I don’t define myself primarily by my job as a presenter. I wrote my first book ‘The Knight of Fortune’ – “I’m writing fictional series and I’m currently thinking about writing a hard thriller. If something else comes on TV for me that suits me – gladly. If not, that’s fine too!”

“I love quiz shows”

And which TV shows would she like to take part in? “I like ‘Who’s Stealing the Show?’ I’d love to – I’d take part in that straight away. And of course I love quiz shows ‘Asked – Hunted’, ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ – splendid!” “Let’s Dance,” on the other hand, wouldn’t be for her. “You have to be really keen on the format in order to do well.”
