Umut Kekilli and his fiancée Ina Schnitzer lost their daughter during pregnancy. Now the former soccer player has spoken about the difficult time after the loss.
It was probably the hardest time in her life: after a miscarriage last year, she had to Umut Kekilli, 39, and his fiancée Ina Schnitzer, 37, recently said goodbye to a baby again. The influencer known as “Yoga-Jordan” gave birth to their daughter Ellah a few months ago in the 16th week of pregnancy. The former soccer player has now spoken about the sad loss.
Umut Kekilli: “I hid myself”
The death of his child plunged him into depression, reveals Natascha Ochsenknecht’s ex-partner, 59, to “Bild”. “There was nothing to be done with me. I holed up with my parents for three and a half months because everything at home was too much for me,” says Kekilli, who now works as a restaurateur and runs several restaurants in Cologne. “I was alone in the woods for hours and couldn’t go to work. “
Ina Schnitzer: “I cried every day”
While Kekilli isolated himself, his wife stayed alone with the children Marcello, 6, and Kaia, 3. “It was the worst time in my life,” Schnitzer told “Bild”. “I cried every day.” She was overwhelmed with the situation, she admits. At first she didn’t know how to deal with the disease. Umut’s depression was a big burden for the family.
Admitted to clinic
The ex-kicker visited several doctors and was admitted to a clinic for ten days. He said he didn’t want to continue like this. Today he is not cured yet, but he is doing better and he is taking the right medication. The stress and pressure of his business were the main triggers of his illness. He doesn’t work as much anymore, says Umut Kekilli. He also learned to say no. “I hope the worst is over,” says Ina Schnitzer. She now needs time and rest to process the past few months. She would also like to continue the couples therapy that she and Kekilli would have started: “It gives you a different view of things,” she is sure.
Umut Kekilli and Ina Schnitzer have been in a couple since the end of 2019. In July 2020, they became parents to little Kaia. The influencer also has a son from a previous relationship, Marcello.
