Musk wants to save millions from starvation

Elon Musk has accepted the challenge from the head of the UN World Food Program. He promises to donate the requested six billion dollars to save more than 40 million people from starvation. Before doing this, however, the UN director must explain transparently and precisely how the money is to be used.

After multiple requests from the head of the UN World Food Program (WFP), David Beasley, the richest man in the world has responded: Elon Musk tweeted that he would sell Tesla shares for six billion dollars immediately and donate the proceeds if Beasley explains exactly how this money would “solve the hunger problem”. The public must be able to see exactly what the money is being spent on.

Beasley had complained several times in the past few weeks that 42 million people were threatened with starvation in view of the multiple crisis caused by Covid, climate change, rising food prices and various conflicts. Two percent of Musk’s fortune – the equivalent of about six billion dollars – would be needed to prevent that from happening. “It’s not complicated,” said the WFP boss.

He breaks his heart, added Beasley in an interview with CNN and pointed out, among other things, Musk and the second richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos. “I’m not asking them to do it every day, every week or every year. We are dealing with a unique crisis, the perfect storm.”

In mid-October, Beasley Musk congratulated Musk on Twitter for replacing Jeff Bezos at the head of the richest people on the planet. “Elon, to celebrate that, I’m offering you a unique opportunity: Help us save 42 million from starvation. The offer is SOON end – and so are lives.”

The six billion would be less than Musks now grew to $ 311 billion in assets in a single day, according to Bloomberg, last Friday. Bezos is currently worth $ 195 billion.
