UN humanitarian office in ‘advanced’ talks for Gaza aid

GENEVA, Oct 20 (Reuters) – The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Friday it was in advanced talks with all parties directly affected by the conflict between Israel and Hamas to ensure the delivery of a aid to the Gaza Strip.

“We are in deep and advanced negotiations with all parties concerned to ensure that an aid operation in Gaza starts as quickly as possible and under good conditions,” said Jens Laerke, OCHA spokesperson.

“We are encouraged by reports that the various parties are close to an agreement on the terms and that a first delivery should begin in the coming days,” he added. (Report by Gabrielle Tétrault-Farber, French version by Augustin Turpin)
